Redefine Your Practice: A Yoga Workshop

Everything needs the occasional update, even the Classics. Things have to evolve to stay alive. Vinyasa yoga is, among other things, a physical discipline, like martial arts, dance, golf or tennis. The vinyasa yoga style has been around long enough now for us to study the effects on our Western bodies and it’s becoming clear where yogis tend to develop overuse injuries and also where we are physically weak or unbalanced. This workshop will review significant technique updates and pose adaptations that make many classic yoga postures more biomechanically sound and beneficial for your body. While working the whole body, we’ll learn modern, functional techniques to help your shoulders, hips, and core work better. The yoga sutras say that if you want to develop depth, you have to go back to the well countless times. Together we'll look a little deeper at the alignment, anatomy and understanding of several key poses, with space for questions.
